We can offer a wheelchair to a disabled dog in a refuge or dog pound. It will cost you very little, we will volunteer our workmanship and expertise, and you will help to give back to a disabled homeless dog the gift of walking.

We can build a custom-made wheelchair which will allow them to move independently.
Our experienced volunteers will offer their craftsmanship FREE OF CHARGE!!
This is because we are a registered charity committed to offering aid to any disabled animal in need, wherever they are.
Lida is one of the major, officially No-Profit ('Onlus'), NO-KILL animal charities in Italy We provide shelters for unwanted and homeless animals, an adoptions database, and we also specialise in recycling or making from scratch custom-made wheelchairs for disabled dogs and cats.
We also offer a database of all wheels which become available from pets who for whatever reason don't need them anymore.

A little background info on Italy's dogs: an estimated 40 millions dogs are held in pounds for life in Italy as euth of healthy animals is illegal since 1991 but adoptions are still a rare event. Many dogs live out their whole lives in cramped, damp concrete cages for the pound owner's profit. Lida, among many other smaller groups, try to locate and enter these structures to provide the dogs with the visibility which is their only chance at life outside a cage. Abandoning un-neutered pets on the streets before the holidays is still considered a viable option by many irresponsible owners, an estimated 150.000 dogs meet with this cruel fate each summer, and the stray population is a pressing unresolved issue in many regions. Local governments treat stray dogs as common pests, and forbid the feeding of stray dogs, in a totally inhumane and ineffective way of resoving the issue.
